A case of tinnitus

Sun was a 59 year old male who visited our clinic on March 3, 2016.
The patient suffered from tinnitus over one mouth accompanied by ringing in the head. He also experienced tightness and contraction of the head. Though blood-letting method was used, there was no effect. On examination, his symptoms were found to include a pale, darkish and swollen tongue with moist coating, and a slippery and weak pulse, which were caused by deficiency of yang, and pathogenic cold and dampness clouding the head. Appropriate treatment should be focused on warming yang and removing cold and dampness. decoction of mahuangfuzixixin（麻黄附子细辛汤） in combination with qingzhen decoction（清震汤） was prescribed: mahuang 10g, xixin 10g, fuzi 30g, cangzhu 30g, shengma15g, heye10g, zexie 20g, shengjiang10g, cishi 30g, shichangpu20g.
Second visit: after 7 doses of the above drugs were taken, ringing in the ear and head was markedly relieved and the feeling of tightness and contraction of the head disappeared. Another seven doses of the same herbal medicine were prescribed to consolidate the effect.
