标题: 桂枝汤 GUI ZHI TANG
GUI ZHI TANG(桂枝汤)is used in patients who exhibit signs such as hypofunction,poor digestion , and exhaustion and who easily catch cold.Besides these symptoms,GUI ZHI TANG(桂枝汤)may be effective against the following conditiongs:

1.Lingering cold state and low-grade fever.
2.When heat and cold remain in spite of perspiration caused by MA HUANG TANG(麻黄汤) and GE GENG TANG(葛根汤).
3.Nosebleed,flush face,and sweating on the head.
4.Slight stiffness of abdominal muscles,accompanied by abnormally dry tongue.
Herbal components
GUI ZHI TANG(桂枝汤)consists of five herbs:Cinnamon Bark(桂皮)4g, Peony Root(芍药)4g,Jujube Fruit(大枣)4g,Ginger Rhizome(生姜) 4g (or 1g in the case of dried Ginger Rhizome(干生姜),and Glycyrrhiza Root(甘草)2g).
Ginger Rhizome(生姜)is used to cure headache ,stuffed nose, persistent cough,and nausea involving vomiting.
Cinnamon Bark(桂皮)works for healing of external sickness, while Peony Root(芍药)acts on internal illness.Jujube Fruit(大枣)and Ginger Rhizome(生姜) assist  Peony Root(芍药)and Cinnamon Bark(桂皮),respectively.Glycyrrhiza Root(甘草) provides the required herbal taste.
